Before intervention :
Poor banjara communities with lack of awareness on growing fruit baring plants. Areas falls in “water over exploitation” Lack of awareness on water conservation methods, management systems and efficient
use of water.
Un -avail of water by defunct wells
Poor access with line departments
Degraded lands with undulated Cultivated more paddy and cotton crops
Flood irrigations taken place in our operation areas
Most of the farmers are practicing mono crops
Achievements
Reduced cotton cultivation by low water consuming crops like mango, sapota with cowpea as an intercrop for 500 farmers “in 16thandas with frequent motivation
Improved access with government line
departments and others
Formed small groups accordingly their needs and additional area 150 acres of fallow
A system of water management practices
Water management strategy, those having borewells were given from project side free of cost motor and pipe line, and an agreement with bore well owners and non bore well stakeholders for water management. These water management strategy was a great success in the project area,
(Sharing by 4 centralized bore points) adopted and still continuing through few bore wells
Flood irrigation controlled in 63 farmers fields by micro-irrigation under convergence inBallunaikthanda and Takulathanda and jillelugadda thanda.
In peak summer maintained constant survival rate in 5 acres with 5 farmers by introduced local technologies like Mulching and bottle irrigation in which mulching practice help to other 25 Farmers in peak summer.
This initiatives taken place in Zalbaithanda and Poolsingh and Kaprunaikthanda.
Vermicompost through KVKs and established units for 25 farmers with convergence of horticulture department
promotedVermicompost manure as a input and reduced using of Chemical fertilizer by low water consuming activity
supplied irrigation to all 150 acres through pipe lines.
